What is an EPC?
Residential EPC (Energy Performance Certificate) is a document that assesses the energy efficiency of a residential property. It provides a rating from A (most efficient) to G (least efficient) and includes recommendations for improving energy efficiency. The EPC is valid for 10 years.
Why Do You Need an EPC?
Selling or Renting a Property – It is legally required in the UK to have an EPC when selling or letting a home.
Compliance with Regulations – Landlords must ensure their property meets the Minimum Energy Efficiency Standards (MEES). Since April 2020, rental properties must have an EPC rating of at least 'E'.
Lower Energy Costs – The EPC provides advice on improving energy efficiency, which can reduce energy bills.
Environmental Impact – Helps homeowners and tenants understand their property's carbon footprint and ways to reduce emissions.
Government Grants & Incentives – Some energy-saving grants or schemes require an EPC to determine eligibility.
